Valley of the Kings, Monument Valley

Monument ValleyMonument Valley

Monument Valley, which was named after a Navajo description meaning valley of the rocks is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 ft (300 m) above the valley floor. Monument Valley is located on the southern border of Utah and northern Arizona, near the Four Corners area.

Monument Valley lies within the Navajo Nationange Reservation and is a breathtaking sight.  This drawing and the following drawing, Totem Pole at sunset were inspired by a recent trip with my husband to this area.
