Yucca in the Early Evening

This drawing depicting Yucca plants was drawn at the last Death Valley Encampment that I participated in.  Every year a plein air competition is held, with each artist required to start the artwork upon arrival (usually Thursday morning), and finished for auction Sunday morning.  I got a horribly late start, and didn’t begin my drawing until Saturday morning.  Luckily, I was able to whip this into shape rather quickly.

The idea of Plein Air is to draw something that you would see within your immediate vicinity.  In Death Valley, your options are limited, but I really liked how the Yucca plants turned out.
