Off the Beaten Path to Charlie’s House

Charlie's Place

Charlie's Place

The Gold Rush spurred tons of people to leave everything and head out West to find fame and fortune.  And when the gold ran out, so did the people.  Out near Ridgecrest, in the middle of absolutely nowhere, is where Charlie’s Place sits. Surrounded by hills that have long ago been mined and abandoned, all that is left as a reminder is this abandoned homestead.

Thank God for indoor plumbing, air conditioning and cars!!! I really don’t think I could have ever lived in those times… much too harsh for me!
